The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a 22-year-old Nepali youth, Nirmal Raj KC, for illegally crossing into India from Bangladesh on Wednesday. The arrest occurred in Murikhawa, under the Phansidewa subdivision, along the India-Bangladesh border.
Nirmal Raj KC, a resident of Jumla, Nepal, is a medical student who has been studying at a medical college in Bangladesh for the past five years. His illegal entry comes amid ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, which has raised concerns about cross-border movements in the region.
The BSF detained Nirmal Raj KC while he was attempting to cross the barbed wire fence. Following his arrest, he was questioned by the authorities before being handed over to the Phansidewa police station for further investigation.
According to sources, Nirmal cited the current turmoil in Bangladesh as a contributing factor to his decision to cross into India without authorization. The authorities are currently verifying his claims and investigating his motive for the illegal crossing.
The police at Phansidewa station have launched an inquiry into the case and are coordinating with relevant agencies to ascertain further details. Meanwhile, BSF officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance along the borders to prevent unlawful activities.
